When you hear the words “facial aesthetic treatments,” you probably think about injectables that are used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, right?
But did you know that we use injectables to treat TMJ and teeth grinding?
Let’s learn more about it.
How Injectable Therapies Work for TMJ and Bruxism
If you grind your teeth or have overactive jaw muscles, you understand how unpleasant it can be.
Maybe you wake up with a headache or a sore jaw, and eating your favourite foods can be difficult as well.
With muscle relaxant injections, we can often reduce those muscle contractions, giving you the relief you’ve been looking for.
Here’s what you can expect:
- First, we’ll assess your situation to determine whether facial aesthetic treatments are right for your symptoms.
- Then, we’ll customise an ongoing management plan to gradually get you the relief you deserve. This may include a combination of injectables and other treatments.
- On the day of your procedure, we’ll inject a small amount of medication into your jaw muscles, and over the next several days, you may notice decreased symptoms.
- After several months, you may need another treatment, as injectables only provide temporary relief.
