At ICS Dental Studio, we’ve witnessed something remarkable: the emotional and physical transformation that happens when our patients choose All-on-4® dental implants.

We’ve seen people walk into our practice feeling defeated, covering their mouths when they speak, avoiding photos, and holding back their laughter, all because they’ve been living with missing teeth, painful dentures, or the fear that their smile will never be whole again. But then, we see those same people walk out after their All-on-4 procedure with tears of joy, a radiant smile and a newfound sense of freedom.

Imagine waking up each morning knowing your smile is secure and natural-looking, sitting down to dinner, and enjoying your favourite foods without pain or hesitation. That’s the power of All-on-4 dental implants! They don’t just replace teeth; they give you your life back.

Before: Am I a Candidate for All-on-4 Dental Implants?

If you’re wondering whether you might be a good candidate for All-on-4 dental implants, here are some of the things we look for in our East Hills dental clinic:

  • Tooth loss — You may be a good candidate if you’re missing most or all of your upper or lower teeth.
  • Jawbone density — All-on-4 dental implants require adequate jawbone density, so if you have enough density to hold the implants sufficiently, they could work for you.
  • Good oral health — Your teeth and gums need to be in good overall health to be eligible for implant surgery.
  • No serious medical conditions — If you smoke or have uncontrolled diabetes, All-on-4 implants may not be right for you.
  • Dentures didn’t work — Did you try traditional dentures but found them uncomfortable, or did they move when you tried to talk? If so, All-on-4 could be a better option.

The All-on-4 Procedure: What to Expect

At ICS Dental Studio, we can guide you through the entire All-on-4 process; the steps for this procedure are as follows:

  1. Consultation — Our experienced dental team will evaluate your oral health and determine whether dental implants are a viable option for you. We’ll discuss your smile goals and personalise a treatment plan for your smile.
  2. Implant placement — On the day of your implant surgery, we’ll completely numb your mouth and precisely place dental implants into your jaw. We use the latest technologies to keep you comfortable and ensure accuracy. The number of implants we place depends on your treatment plan.
  3. Healing — Over the next several months, your implants will fuse with your jawbone. This process, known as osseointegration, makes your implants strong and secure, allowing you to bite down and chew normally. While you’re waiting for your implants to heal, we’ll use temporary teeth to complete your smile.
  4. Restoration — Once you’re completely healed, your customised implant-retained overdenture or all-on-x prosthesis will be attached to your dental implants, completing your new smile. You’ll once again enjoy a natural-looking, aesthetically pleasing look.

After: Recovery and Transformationbefore and after all-on-4 dental implants

It’s important to understand that your mouth will take several months to heal after your All-on-4 procedure. Here are some of the best ways to recover as quickly and comfortably as possible:

  • Use ice packs to minimise swelling, especially for the first 48 hours. Also, keep your head elevated.
  • To manage discomfort, take over-the-counter pain relievers as directed by our dental team.
  • Try to eat mostly soft foods while you’re healing; stick to things like pudding, yoghurt, scrambled eggs and mashed potatoes.
  • Avoid eating hard and crunchy foods, as they can harm your implant sites.
  • Be gentle when you brush your teeth, especially around the implant sites.
  • It’s best to avoid alcohol, hot beverages and smoking because they can slow the healing process.
  • Get plenty of rest and avoid strenuous activities for several days after implant surgery.
  • Don’t hesitate to contact our dental clinic if you experience excessive bleeding, swelling or severe pain.

Maintaining Your New Smile

Once you’ve recovered and are enjoying your beautiful new smile, maintaining it is essential to your oral health. Follow these tips to keep your dental implants looking and feeling their best:

  • Brushing — Make sure to brush twice daily; use a soft-bristled toothbrush and toothpaste for sensitive teeth.
  • Flossing — Floss between each implant daily, and be sure to use floss designed specifically for implants.
  • Dental visits Arrange routine dental check-ups with your East Hills dentist.
  • Lifestyle changes — If possible, it’s best to quit smoking and avoid hard, sticky foods.
  • Nightguards — If you grind your teeth at night, consider wearing a nightguard to protect your implants.
